Menu Simplification

Menu Simplification, rolling out on April 26, will remove a significant number of products and sizes from the menu board and delete the corresponding ingredients or packaging items in the back of house. At a high level, the simplifications happening chainwide include:

DELETIONS:
- Deleting the bagel
- Deleting decaf coffee and the large coffee cup
- Deleting the 1-count Chick-n-Strips®

MENU SIZE CONSOLIDATION:
- Consolidating to one size Icedream® cup, the current Kid’s size, and only offering the small Icedream
cone (when it returns)
- Consolidating the 4-count and 6-count Chick-fil-A Nuggets®, only offering 5-count Chick-fil-A
Nuggets® for grilled and original
- Consolidate Kids Meal Strip offering of 1ct and 2ct Strips to 2ct Only
- Consolidate Large & Small coffee to Small Only
- Only offering the small 16-ounce size of the milkshake, frosted and specialty beverages

According to Matt Reed, the deletions and consolidations received strong test Operator support, ranging from 92% to 100%, depending on the item. He acknowledged there was some negative Customer feedback at the beginning of the test and the same is expected on chainwide rollout.

“We know you will experience some negative feedback from Customers with these deletions, but in the test what we learned that after about two months, it will calm down. Around 84% of CARES complaints came within that window,” Matt said.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL PROMOTION: SMOKEHOUSE BBQ BACON SANDWICH
The 2021 Back-to-School Promotion will feature the Seasonal Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich, based on Operator panel feedback. Featured in 2017 and 2019, the sandwich has performed well in the past, and since most Restaurants have grill capacity, it should not create the same challenges as the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich.

Media plans for the Back-to-School Promotion will remain intact with the switch to the Seasonal Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich. Operators in MAP markets who would like to reevaluate or reallocate their funds should reach out to their Marketing Strategy Advisor by March 1.

Rollout resources in support of the promotion will be available this summer.
